Ideas for merchandise
by Simon ini think i mentioned this some time ago but never had time to do anything about it.
i'm thinking of offering merchandise on the site for a bit of fun and also to help with the site expenses (although i don't expect it to generate a huge amount).
i think catchy logo's and phrases are the best.

Double Standards
by Perfection Seeker indid anyone else have witness parents who the congregation thought were the "model" family, yet behind closed doors all hell broke loose?
i remember a time when my family was choosen to do a part at an assembly about the ideal family- yet behind the scenes, we were beat, yelled at, sworn at, never studied, had a family from hell, yet others always commented how "perfect" and christian our family was.
being a witness leaves deep & permanent scars.

I can't believe your mom showed you as an example! Me, I was always stuck in long sleeves in the summer trying to HIDE my marks. Don't you think Witnesses beat their kids more than any other group? In our hall, one of the elders came up with this "RULE" that ANY child still living at home had to be accompanied to the bathroom by their parents. I was living at home at age 19- got up once to go to the bathroom- no, I really didn't have to go- but needed to move to keep awake- and I got back there- and noticed my mom coming right behind me! They also said no jean skirts in our hall, no shorter skirts, they said the brothers had to wear certain suits- are hall was a very STRICT congregation- they went WAY beyond the bible. They even said kids couldn't cruise around in cars unchaperoned! Who at 16 doesn't want to drive drive drive? Oh, and the last time I went to the hall- my sister was in the back with her baby- and I started talking to her- quietly- there was a door partition- an elder came up & said it wasn't social hour. THE NERVE

I wouldn't be able to buy any merchandise, because I am still not "labeled" but when & if I am- look out- I want truck fulls! :-) How about an "OUT OF THE CLOSET" apostate or witness shirt? I am STILL laughing about the "dedicated my life & all I got was this lousy Tshirt- that is HILARIOUS~

This last post really says it all- you were 16 and afraid. How many 16 year olds OUTSIDE of the organization are scared of anything???~? I spent my ENTIRE childhood & early adult hood AFRAID! What a way to grow up! You mentioned 75 pound heavier- speaking of heavier- ever notice how alot of the witnesses are fat? I mean, grossly fat? Like the end is coming soon- so why diet or exercise? So, is gluttony NOT a sin? I think they pick & choose their sins & pick & choose what they want to believe. So much bitterness over lost lives, lost childhoods. I can't believe the years I spent AFRAID. Nice, on some level, to know others felt & feel the same way. Before this website, I felt so alone.

JWs Locked in Cellar
by Stephanus indoes anyone remember the news report about an old lady who was so fed up with the dubs coming to her door that she locked two of them up in her cellar?
the dubs were missing for some time before the other dubs who'd been in fs with them called the police who eventually found the ones in the cellar.. my question: shouldn't the dubs have gone to the elders instead of bringing the police into it?
that's how they handle other problems...

As funny as this posting is- I am still laughing- but did you ever wonder why MORE of this doesn't happen? I remember going door to door with my friend- we were only 11 & 12- went around blocks alone- lord only knows what we said to the people at the door! I remember standing there PRETENDING to knock- those poor people at the door- lol. But, what if people had answered- if they asked anything other than the normal "would you like to read these- $0.15 cents a piece" line- I wouldn't have known what to say! But, really, alot of people go door to door alone, or send young people- there's alot of what ifs that could be scarey- wrong place, wrong time! I know when my mom brings a car full of people here I wouldn't mind locking them in the basement! LOL. Now, they don't "witness" to me- they just chit chat, use the bathroom- then SOMEBODY says one thing- like- heres the latest magazine, or the speaker tomorrow.......... Hey- anyone out there STILL getting the magazines in the mail?!?! I have since 1995 non stop- my mom keeps getting the slip & renewing them- I keep hearing they are going to end SOON- stop mailing altogether- but they STILL keep coming!

Ha ha! I am HOPING I won't have a committee meeting :-) I like the one posting of someone in here- ways to spice up a JD hearing- made me laugh so hard I cried! They sure had me at my last one- I was a scared little girl! (27) I did exactly as told, said what I should, etc. Now, I am afraid I'd have to ask my husband to come just to shut me up! I do feel sorry for them- I think they will be judged more harshly for judging others. Don't you?

Kjell- Thanks for writing! My father was sick with cancer- I got QUICKLY reinstated- they cut corners cause my dad was sick & a servant- and my WHOLE family are witnesses- then I spent the last two years in contact with my dad- then he passed away. That was two years ago. Since then, I have been to probaby less than 10 meetings- of course I still didn't get priveledges back- so didn't do much. Everyone knows why I went back- and since my family are all witnesses- they sort of "tolerate" me. I am in their territory- so if they need bathrooms or drinks on a Saturday morning, or want to "encourage" me they stop by- so I think I am living on the edge so to speak. BUT, they have NO idea I HAPPILY go to church on Sunday mornings, or else I would be marked or dissed or something. My dad was a "normal" guy- not the usual witness stereo type- he kept my mom in line- was a decent servant- was a good guy. Now that he is gone- she goes OVERBOARD trying to save me & my husband "So we can see dad again- and be there when he wakes up" She just never stops- emails calls stopping by- she is the EXTREME witness, if you know what I mean! Just wondered if you as a "elder" had something to say to her to appeal to her witness side :-) It has been since WAY before 1995 that I faded out- so I don't even know how to appeal to her anymore- but did tell her the other day I liked being disfellowshipped before- cause I was out of her clutches. That shut her up- for a day :-) Now the poor lady is at the three day convention- do you remember the hours of brain dead you felt- and numb- or when you were in, were you in, and good? :-) Thanks for writing. You know, they say Apostacy is saying the truth isn't the truth- and they scare you from saying what you think but true apostacy as in the dictionary is to say there is no god. Thats not what we're saying here. We are only saying we want to serve GOD & not an organization. BEST WISHES! Melissa

What Would You Have Done?
by Dutchie inthere was a middle-aged woman in our kingdom hall who was a long time pioneer.
she was a very warm and loving woman and so when she announced her plans for a family vacation one year some of us got together and took up a little collection so that she would have some extra money to spend.
after all, she was working hard for jehovah and werent we supposed to show our appreciation?.

You are kidding, right? I don't know ANY christian that would have kept the money- whether a witness or not. That is such a crock! Jehovah provides- so he provides with someone elses hardship? Will he provide when she has to go to jail for stealing? What a crock. That is ridiculous. Also, what other organization would take up money for someone to VACATION with!? Heck- take up a collection for me- and I'll vacation too! What a crock
